I NEED...

...this sofa I found over at Habitually Chic, made by Soane. I have absolutely NOWHERE to put it, but I do NEED it....

Scroll down to the bottom of the post and check out the penguin. I need him too!
And definitely check out the blog. Love it!

Coastal Beds

Today we were talking about taking our beach trip in February, so I went over to the Coastal Living website to see what's new. I don't remember how long ago I saw these beds in the magazine, but I really want them.

Find them here.

Clutter

I am SO tired of clutter. It's stuffed in drawers, spread out on desks, and shoved in closets. It MUST go now!

Or maybe tomorrow. I'm tired tonight....

Laser Level Goodness

Today was my first experience with a laser level. It is a thing of beauty. I had to work kinda fast before it fell off the wall, but I WAS able to work so much faster! I hung up some record albums I brought back from the last trip to Grandma's house. Here they are in my sitting room!

This is the other side of my sitting room. It's just off the kitchen so I can keep an eye on the dogs while I bake my cookies!

Walnut

I giant walnut tree fell down at the ranch, and we're all getting a custom dining table out of the deal. (shouts of joy!) I want one like this one from Hudson Furniture.

But it would be lots of fun to replace some of the built-in desks in my house with a slab like this!

Spray Paint a Chandelier!

I have a crystal (or glass) chandelier that looks a lot like this one. I took it down from our dining room because it was WAY too ornate! I've been wanting to paint it red and hang it over my bath tub (because the one there is creepy with little cupids on it), so I think I'll go for it!

Art Wall

Now THIS is what I call an art wall!

And...I can't believe I've never thought of this......

Wonderful!

While perusing the internet for ways to make my house a little more cozy, I found these images.

So here's what I've decided makes a room comfortable and cozy:
Books, books, books
Texture - on walls, shaggy carpet, rugs
Fabric - different types and lots of it
Leather, wood
Earth tones
Lamps and rugs - even if the overhead lighting is nice and you have hardwood floors (especially if you have hardwood floors!)
Your stuff - what you love, old and new, but definitely some old

Antiquing in Fort Smith

There is this great antique store on Burrough Road in Fort Smith. You can't bring your purse in, which is kinda weird, but then you have more hands for toting stuff around. I'm not sure what the name of it is, but I've gotten so much great stuff there! This is what I found last week! I'm going to use the stand for my overhead projector, and, yes, that globe IS as big as it looks!

I didn't get this ketchup bottle (look at that price tag!), but it looks like something straight out of an Andy Warhol collection.

I rarely ever look up when I'm at store, which I need to remember to do because there's usually great stuff above my head! And at this store there are rows and rows of American flags. I believe I saw something like it in a Jonathan Adler book. I love using repetition to make a statement.

Thank you At Home in Arkansas

Today I discovered that At Home in Arkansas magazine published a link to my blog on their Facebook page! If you have a Facebook account, look up the At Home in Arkansas Magazine Page. If not, go here, look on the right side of the page under facebook, scroll down and you'll see Zesty Nest!

Caliente Red

The first time I walked in the front door of our new house and saw the horrible (seriously, from the early 90's) floral wallpaper, I knew I wanted to paint it red. I never thought twice. I went with caliente red from Benjamin Moore. And I LOVE the results!

Welcome Fall

The weather here has been cool the last couple of days. It's about time to get my sweaters out of the cedar closet! I love fall. It's my favorite time of year - football, pumpkin, colorful leaves on the ground....

Room of Natural Curiosities

This post is for my Grandma, who hasn't seen our new house yet. I tried to upload more photos, but I guess the files are too big. So we'll take it one room at a time. This is one of my favorites. It's my "formal living room," which nobody really has anymore. But I've decorated mine with great stuff I've found or picked up on vacation.

I knew exactly what sofas I wanted for this room, and I found them on sale at Dillard's last fall. The dogs really like to sleep on them! I filled the bowl on the coffee table with drift wood I picked up at the beach in June.

I pulled those prints out of a book, and that middle one has a penguin in it, but you can't really see it.
