Keep Calm Gallery
I discovered the Keep Calm Gallery tonight. Love it! There are great prints and tea towels...and few other things to.
I think Katie should get this for Chris. I would get it, but I don't like coffee....

Oh yeah, and they have the Keep Calm and Carry On screenprint in several colors...

Goodbye Western Interiors and Design
Only about a year ago I discovered Western Interiors and Design. And now it's gone...well technically it merged with Luxe magazine. But it is NOT the same! I was so sad when my new issue came in the mail....
Why are all the great design mags folding - Domino, Cottage Living, Western Interiors and Design? What's next?

Best Calendars Ever!
Anthropologie has calendars! Use them this year to keep track of what you're doing, then "recycle" them next year when you frame them for your wall...

Bold Bedrooms
Ok. Maybe I'm going a little overboard on the bedroom posts, but I just can't get enough of these punchy patterns!

Colorie Bedroom
Sandi got to repaint her guest room (Katie's bridal room) too! She's been trying to decide how to decorate. I like this!

Library Cabinet
Did you know that libraries are doing away with the Dewey Decimal System? Sad, but I was able to get this library cabinet from the University of Oklahoma while I was in Canton!
Beautiful! With 60 drawers! And it hangs out in my entryway, so I can enjoy it each time I walk through the door!

Photo Editing
I went to Hastings this evening because I needed to get out and do something. I bought this book. And while trying to create the giant Andy Warhol print he outlines, I accidently figured out how to do something else. Let me explain.
A couple months ago, Crystal Goss came and took Chris and Katie's engagement pictures. She captures colors so beautifully! I have been trying to figure out how to recreate the effect ever since. Now, I'm no Crystal, but what I've discovered does give my colors a little more of an edge. And I like it!
So I took last year's Christmas photo from this:
To this:
And I think it looks better, don't you?
All I did was up the contrast in the photo editing program that came with my printer. Amazing!

Funky Bedroom
Looking through the Canadian House and Home galleries for bedroom designs (even though I'm pretty sure I already know what I'm going to do), I came across this funky bedroom. I would love to make it for my niece (minus that floral pillow in the front) when she gets a little older and possibly grow out of the pink phase...

So Blessed
Last night I was laying in bed thinking about how much I want to have some rooms in my house painted (not by me, but by someone who really knows what they're doing). Then I realized how incredibly blessed I am that my last thought bedfore going to sleep is when or if I'll get these rooms painted (not whether or not I'll eat tomorrow or still have a house tomorrow). So I'm laying there and I'm thanking God for all the wonderful people and experiences in my life, and I fall asleep.
So then this morning, I find out I might get to have these rooms painted! What?!
So how will I decorate?

Schoolhouse Maps!
One of our prize finds in Canton were some wonderful pull down maps from an old school. We used them on Sandi's third floor to simplify the look and tie in the green walls and floor with the red movie chairs.
It's so wonderful! She's working on adding some globes now!

Laurie Anna's in Canton
I left my phone at home this morning so I didn't get to take pictures of everything I saw at Canton today, but I got my phone back before we went to Laurie Anna's. They have some great ideas. I love common place items being escalated to a place of decor importance.
Like these cotton balls displayed in a glass bell jar.....or these paperbacks, covers removed, trapped inside a bell cage.
And then something I hadn't thought of, trapping a camera in a glass bell. (And I have an extensive collection of vintage cameras.)
And here's a new way to hang lights - use a wire support from a crib.
And lastly, if you have a drawer but nothing to put it in, how about lining it with dictionary pages and adding a turtle shell or some driftwood?

Sandi's "New" House
In preparation for Katie's upcoming wedding, Sandi has redecorated! She painted over all the traditional wallpaper and simplified the decor (think soothing, calm, and a little beachy).
Again with the red leather sofa, but this time there are turquoise lamps, seashells, and her corgi, Ruthie.
The overall view of her family room. There used to be heavy drapes and a busy rug (I did kinda like the rug, but this is definitely better!).
She liked my furniture board so much that she wanted her own, so I made her this Curiosities board.
Hallway upstairs.
Her formal living room, which used to have a red and gold couch and DARK red paint on the wall. And how great is that coffee table?
The other half of the living room. Love the globes and glass bell domes!
And the entryway. We worked REALLY hard to get those birds that high in the air! But I really think it is worth the statement. And it's definitely better in person!
I think she's done an excellent job! And I know everyone at the wedding will love it too!
