Round Barns

When I was browsing around for some inspiration earlier this week, this first barn caught my eye. I'm not such a huge farmgirl, though I do enjoy visiting the sheep and horses, but I love beautiful barns. They always make me think of high school, when Josh and I started dating. His family actually had a barn in their front yard - it's where I first met his sister. But I can't recall ever seeing a round barn in person. I did some research and found that they were built as a less expensive and more spacious alternative to the traditional four-sided barn. They allowed for more storage, and some were even used to break horses in the winter. But I wouldn't mind turning one into a house, though it would be quite challenging to decorate....

I found these by searching flickr and google images

For the Future Beach House - An Octopus Entry

Usually when I think of owning a beach house, I envision neutral walls, pale floors, and white slipcovered sofas. BUT, what if it were more like this Pheobe Howard space? Nautical navy walls, vintage secretary, simple lanterns, and phenomenal art prints. I think it's perfect!

Boxing in the Bedroom (and other lovely places to lay your head)

Love it.

I love that this bedroom is so glamorous (mirrors, chandelier, bedding) and so earthy (wood stump side tables, antlers, beadboard ceiling) at the same time. And I never would have thought to do this, but those mirrors on either side of the bed make the room look much more spacious than it probably is.

Home Office Redo

After this post, a friend of mine asked for help with her home office (you know who you are). And I'm thrilled! Since I don't know exactly how the space is used, I don't have any concrete ideas yet. But here are some inspiring images to get us started...

First 2 images from BHG. All the rest from flickr.

The Art of Just Enough

I love this Alabama cottage I just found on Apartment Therapy. It has a rustic, casual feel and just enough stuff to be homey.

Be sure to check out the rest of the house here.

Breakfast Room

Fric and Frac has been posting some really inspiring things lately, but when I saw this I knew I had to share. I have always wanted a room like this. Maybe I enjoy eating too much, but the idea of lounging into a couch while I finish off that last bit of chocolate cake sounds so sweet!

It's a post about lanterns. Good stuff here.

A Place to Paint

I am hoping that I get to start taking oil painting lessons soon (I'm waiting for a spot to open up). And once I get kinda good at it, I think a space like this one would be perfect for painting in (when I'm not distracted by my fabulous room). Of course, I feel like there should probably be an ocean just outside that window to the left....

I want (so so so much)....

...to visit this room and explore all of it's little spaces.

Happy Monday

I don't have much need for a home office. But if I did, I would want it to look something like this.

I feel inspired just looking at it.

Found on Flickr: Beachy Spaces

OK. It's summer, and (not that this is any different from the rest of the year) I can't get the beach off my mind. So let's do this.
I love the ceilings, the patterns, the colors - it's all so interesting.
Red, white and blue? Yes, please!

I would love to curl up on one of these beds and read a good book....or look at more beachy rooms.

Awesome walls, love the white sofa, and those lamps are really kinda cool.

Um...chandelier. Need I say more?

Wonderful ceilings, love the staircase and that gnarly piece of wood.

Calm, traditional, and beachy. I like that coffee table with the more modern mantle and paint color.

Red, white, blue, and what? Yeah, green goes too. And can I please have those throw pillows?

Oh. Wow. The beach house I would literally never get tired of. Neutral colors. Collections (mirrors on the wall and I'm sure there are more the deeper you go). White slipcovers.

I want that painting.
